On the one hand, they do not want to believe other’s theories easily and pay a great attention to discover by themselves; on the other hand, they adore authorities and want to be authorities. With these two reasons, they are influenced by what they constantly see and hear. In addition, the complicated western ethos expands the difficulty for them to understand. Therefore, youth become the contradiction when fighting against to authorities formally or adoring authorities factually, which produces the prejudice on studying western ethos. The blindness in adoring authorities makes youths choose western ethos unscientifically and optionally.
D. Individualism from the Western
With the development of young people's ego consciousness, they hope that they can explore life and society independently. But their judgments still are puerile and they like to think alone, it is hard for them to grasp essence when they meet difficult social problems. Therefore, they often hope to seek help with available theories. On the other side, western social ideology influence youth's consciousness by their strong academic color; strengthen the conflict between ideal and realistic, this changing appears in the development of youth’s mentality. Some young people are appreciate Nietzschean voluntarism and superman philosophy, they take ‘design self- realize self- self struggle’ as the only formula for success, and they claim that society should create conditions for realizing self-value, collective should support realizing self-value, individual should work hard for realizing self-value(Freud,S, 1950). As a result, this kind of influence do not only weaken youth’s ability to removes ego consciousness, but also hinders youth from evaluating self-value correctly, makes them explore more and more strong conflict between value consciousness and individualism in the course of questioning life, resulting in a mentality such as ultra-individualism and egoism.
E. Confused Mentality
As is known to us, young men only have little time to practice in society, which leads to the shortage of experience of understanding society. Therefore, in the process of comprehending objective things, maybe they will be puzzled by the presentational, which lead understanding to appear one-sided; this is called confused mentality (Zhang Fanshen, 1989). The complicated content in western ethoses and the various forms make a illusion that young men thought they are stepping into the hall of science to those whom regard reactive ethos as the new thought of science and accept them. These youths completely do not recognize the essence that those ethoses are anti- science, anti- truth and anti- Marxist. Some young people are dazed by western ethoses, which aggravate the trend of worshiping western culture, they think the western are best and appear a nihilistic tendency and wants to denying Chinese tradition (Wang Qintian, 1993). More than the worse, ***ual liberation which once was popular in western countries is pursued by our youth, they want to liberate *** from social morals, and change *** into business, so that they can deal with conveniently. Because the confused mentality cannot be satisfied in time, as a result, they cannot comprehend western ethos properly.
