摘要:本文是一篇英语翻译论文,记者面对的问题来自两个角度:汉英差异视角和文化负载表达视角。本文从汉英差异的角度出发,结合汉英两种语言的特点,在对两种语言进行比较的基础上,探讨了逻辑分析的障碍。记者主要在汉语要点的处理和英语衔接的呈现上遇到困难。本文从文化负载表达的角度出发,探讨了两种文化负载表达的解释难点:绝对文化空缺表达和部分文化空缺表达。在对前人研究的反思和感悟的基础上,笔者提出了解决问题的对策。

笔者从两个角度设计了相应的解决方案。针对汉英差异所引起的逻辑分析问题,作者根据解释理论,探讨了在处理汉语要点和呈现英语逻辑衔接时所能采取的具体策略,包括对汉语要点的消解通过区分主要信息和次要信息,并在回顾中文源中隐含的逻辑关系后使用适当的连接,来获得原文短信。


Chapter One Project Survey


1.1 The IASS-AIS-NNU Advanced Semiotics Workshop

The IASS-AIS-NNU Advanced Semiotics Workshop, first held from June 29thto July 2nd,2018, is an annual international semiotics program collaboratively launched by theInternational Association for Semiotics Studies—L’Association Internationale deSémiotique (IASS-AIS) and Nanjing Normal University (NNU). It aims to promote awider and further dialogue between the Eastern and Western semiotics world. BetweenJuly 5thand July 7thof 2019, The Second IASS-AIS-NNU Advanced Semiotics Workshop( “ASW 2019” ) was held at Nanjing Normal University, Suiyuan, with nearly 120participants including scholars, teachers and postgraduates from China, Argentina, Japan,Korea, Canada, Burma, Italy and other countries1.

This year, the workshop was themed “Semiotics and Intercultural Communication,”providing an interdisciplinary platform of cultural semiotics for discussions related tocurrent opportunities and challenges in globalization nowadays.

1.2 The interpreting project

The reporter participated in the simultaneous interpreting project for The SecondIASS-AIS-NNU Advanced Semiotics Workshop from July 5thto July 7th, 2019. The reportertook on the responsibility of simultaneous interpreting for Chinese guest speakers duringthe speech time and simultaneous interpreting for the questioners, the host and the speakersduring the Q&A time. Here were two of her Chinese clients: Prof. Shi and Prof. Li3. Prof.Shi is Director of College of Foreign Languages and Literature, XXX University. Hisresearch orientations include Net-speak Communication, Linguistic Semiotics, Languageand Cross-cultural Communication. As an interdisciplinary semiotician, Prof. Shi exploredinto the traditional Dongxiang catering culture, and presented a construction of the folklore symbols and the process of their commercialization and their recognition. Prof. Li is amember of the International Association for Semiotics Studies and also a researcher ofInternational Institute of Semiotic Studies XXX University. His research interests includesemiotics, linguistics and translation. In this workshop, he took on the job of the host.

ChapterTwoMajorIssues, Difficulties andAnalysis of Causes


2.1 Logical analysis problems arising from Chinese-Englishdifferences

The first difficulty that the reporter came across during this interpreting project was thelogical analysis problems arising from Chinese-English differences. Firstly, the reporterfound it difficult to grasp the main point of the source Chinese texts. Secondly, the accuratepresentation of the English cohesion was challenging for the reporter in simultaneousinterpreting.

2.1.1 Problems with the main point processing of Chinese

The first problem arising from Chinese-English differences was that the reporter failed tosort out the main point of the source language Chinese in some parts, thus leading tounclear message.
