摘要:本文以美国建筑师赖特的话语“建筑的真髓在于空间”开篇,探讨了空间的外在形式结构与内在的隐喻意义。

e space in which we live and through which we move.

An architectural space plays a role of more than just a stage of our lives; they also reflect the image of an era, the society and most importantly the rich culture. Therefore the spatial experience provided has become an important factor in the communication of the architecture and the perceiver. The virtue and characteristic of a successful architecture is based on the language of the experience provided rather than the architectural form itself, which is mediated between the perceiver and the experiential space. A successful architecture is also capable of transmitting the philosophy and concepts that the space wants to convey and the experience the space provides is vital in terms of introducing the perceiver to the personality of the space. The spatial experience should be something to be enjoyed and shared by the majority of people. If the experience is shared more widely because more people are able to understand it and subsequently take it seriously; chances are the space has being perceived and appreciated by the general public and thus fulfilled its social responsibility.

'Enjoyment of space and form is a birthright.' (Caudill, 1978) This spatial enjoyment can be heightened and improved in two basic ways: through the carefully thought through design of buildings and its related spaces and through the user's development of awareness, knowledge and perception of architecture. Architecture can be important to the enrichment and improvement of one's life. And after so many years, architects and designers are still trying to understand and figure out how humans interact with different space and form, how skilfully designed space and form respond to human needs and how humans perceive and react to different experiential spaces.

Scenario:      Two men are attending a musical concert. One of them loves great works of great composers and has studied music, has a trained ear and has spent his years developing on how to appreciate music. This concert is heaven to him. To the other man, this musical concert is a total bore. He has had little exposure to classical music and knows absolutely nothing with reference to music. Never learned to listen and does not even know that he has been deprived of the pleasure of fine music. He can hardly wait for the musical concert to be over.

During intermission, the same two people react very differently as they walk around and within the concert building experiencing its space and form. Now the musically inclined person is bored. He knows almost nothing about buildings. He can be said to be visually illiterate. The other person, however, has spent years developing an appreciation of buildings. He has a trained eye. He derives and finds great pleasure from the quality of space and form of the magnificent concert hall. He is stirred to maximum enjoyment. To him, architecture is appreciating visual music.

The term 'architecture appreciation' is important and wisely used to help promote the idea that architecture can be enjoyed through one's spatial perceptions, just like enjoying the performing and visual arts. Architecture appreciation, just like music appreciation and art appreciation is learned. For instance, in music, it will be learning how to hear. As for art, it will be论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
