摘要:The study of lexical chunks dated from nearly 70s' of the last century.Researchers believed that a considerable proportion of our daily utterances are notgenerated by rules but retrieved as a whole from storage.

language is not just about grammar andvocabulary. Prefabricated items or lexical chunks make up a large part of a nativespeaker's spoken and written output. Native speakers' utterances are “grammatical” aswell as “native like”,however, most of the grammatically well-formed sentences arenot native like,that is to say, natural forms of expression are not always formed bythe grammatical rules as we learn. Consequently, learners should not only mastergrammatical rules but also prefabricated items and lexical chunks. (Sinclair,!991).As a result,increasingly more researchers begin to pay attention to researches onprefabricated items and lexical chunks in recent years. The publication of MichaelLewis' The Lexical Approach in 1993 especially highlights the status of lexicalchunks in language teaching and language learning.

2.2 Literature Review of Grammar Teaching


2.2.1 The Definition of Grammar
According to different researchers,grammar has its different definition, becausethey define it from various perspectives.In a narrow sense,grammar is a description of the rules of language, it includesthe vocabulary variation rules and sentence building rules,(Widdowson, 1999).However, in a broad sense,grammar is not only a description of rules but also adynamic conception. Hu Zhuanglin (2000) stated that if the purpose of languageteaching is to help learners how to use the target language properly,the grammarshould be regarded as a dynamic system rather than a static system. George Yule(2002) claimed that grammar can be regarded as a structural system. Different contextmeaning can lead to different grammar stiiicture. Meaning, form and usage are thethree aspects of grammar system. That is to say,grammar is not only a dsescriptionof rules.Larsen-Freeman (2005) put forward the conception grammaring,which includesmorphosyntax, semantics and pragmatics. All of the three aspects affect each other.That is to say,changes of each of them can lead to changes of others.Let the researcher summary the above. Grammar is not only a description ofrules but also a dynamic system including structure, meaning and usage. It is relatedto the pragmatics as well as a structural system.In this paper, we talk about learners' grammar level. Here the grammar means thegrammar in a broad sense. It involves how to use a language structurally correct andpragmatically perfect.
