This research conducts an investigation among 290 senior one students in three different  level  of  high  schools  of  Xiangtan  through  analysis  of  questionnaire  and interview, aiming to figure out the current situation of students’ cultural awareness in Xiangtan.  What’s  more,  the  author  attempt  to  acquire  about  the  relationship  among the  level  of  students’  cultural  awareness  competence  and  the  gender,  language proficiency and schools. Then the author found out the problems and reasons behind phenomenon.

According to the specific analysis and discussion in the chapter four, the major findings  about  the  status  quo  of  students’  English  cultural  awareness,  subsistent problems and influencing factors are as follows.

(1)  The  cultural  awareness  competence  of  senior  one  students  in  Xiangtan  is  in good condition overall. After analysis of the questionnaires, the author found out that senior one students do well in dimension of the understand of Chinese culture, most of  them are very confident with their accumulation on it.
