h is now defined as business-school integrated and industry-academycoordinated,which is totally different from the traditional English teaching model converginglistening, reading,speaking and writing. It will definitely have positive effects on students'language ability, occupational competence and,hence, the overall quality of school education.Task-based teaching, an upgraded mode] of communicative approach, has successfully turnedapplied linguistic principles into practical classroom model, which focuses on the growth ofstudents' language ability, the improvement of learning strategy, the boost of self-confidence andthe enhancement of employability as well. The work-related TBLT model is to teach studentsability,the ability to use knowledge and skills acquired, and increase public awarenessconcerning students' competence and usefulness in higher vocational colleges.


1.4Organization of the thesis
This thesis comprises seven chapters. Chapter 1 gives a general sketch to tell the significanceand objectives of the thesis. Chapter 2 focuses on the theoretical basis of work-relatedtask-based teaching model. Chapter 3 explains the background of constructing work-relatedtask-based teaching model, taking Automobile English as an example. Chapter 4 introduces the4T (Taste, task, tackle, test) model and the teaching procedures of Automobile English in highervocational college in detail. Chapter 5 analyzes the core elements of the work-related task-basedteaching model in automobile English class. Chapter 6 evaluates the work-related task-basedlanguage teaching model in HIV Automobile class via students' questionnaire and teachers'interview. Chapter 7 draws a conclusion of the thesis.


Chapter Two Theoretical basis for work-relatedtask-based teaching model


This chapter mainly focuses on the literature review of the theoretical basis in the thesis.Some vocational teaching models in western countries and in China are introduced to clarify thetrend and necessity of vocational education. And TBLT approach which has achieved greatsuccess in language teaching is analyzed from its present application situation both at home andabroad, the important elements which are vital to compose the approach. The possibility ofapplying TBLT in higher vocational English class is discussed to ensure a good consequence ofthe trial and reform. What's more,some key concepts, such as English teaching in highervocational colleges in China,the work-related tasks and the qualification framework areclarified to guarantee the construction of work-related TBLT model in a proper field.


2.1 Vocational teaching models


2.1.1 Vocational teaching models in western countries
HVE theories have been standardized, systematic and scientific in many developedcountries and made great achievements in the field are made. Dual education system.Competency-based education, BTEC teaching model,and some other well-established teachingmodels are implemented to embody the work-related educational rationale in these countries andareas, to cultivate individual ability and professional competence. It has great referentialmeaning to Chinese HVE English education. Therefore,it is necessary to leam from and adoptthese advanced HVE theories and concepts to construct Chinese HVE system in line withChina's national condition.
