1.2 Purposes and Significance of the Research
1.2.1 Purposes of the Research
The existing problems such as 'the review is not effective, the review method is more mechanical and the review initiative is lower' are common nowadays. In order to find an effective way to solve the current problems of vocabulary review in Senior three, the author applies Mind Map to vocabulary review teaching in Senior three to explore what influence Mind Map-based English vocabulary review have on the size of vocabulary and review strategies of Senior three students.
1.2.2 Significance of the Research
The author carried out the research, which has both theoretical and practical significance:
Based on constructivism and schema theory as well as knowledge visualization theory, the research can further enrich vocabulary teaching theory. At the same time, it can strengthen teachers' and students' understanding of the relevant theory of Mind Map.
In addition, by doing this research, the author hopes to provide a new teaching strategy and method for Senior three English vocabulary review teaching. It can not only provide reference for teachers who plan to use Mind Map to carry out vocabulary review teaching for students in Senior three, but also provide basic materials for the improvement of English teaching in Senior three. At the same time, it provides data for future research on the application of Mind Map to English vocabulary review teaching in Senior three.
Chapter 2 Literature Review
2.1 Core Concepts
This thesis is about the application of Mind Map in Senior Three students’ English vocabulary review teaching, so there are four core concepts: vocabulary teaching, vocabulary learning strategies, Mind Map and English Vocabulary Mind Map.
