4.1.1 The Cognitive Analysis of High School English Teachers on CriticalThinking

This study suggests that the cognition of high school English teachers on criticalthinking ability includes the interpretation and English teachers’ understanding oncritical thinking ability. Therefore, the questionnaire is designed from this aspect.Now according to the investigation results analysis is as follows:

The items in this latitude are set to understand teachers' cognition of criticalthinking ability. The average mean is above 3.7, and the level is medium to high。

The item 1, 'Critical thinking means thinking in an evaluative way.' The mean is3.77. The majority of participants (87.5%) agreed with this view. This indicates thatparticipants' awareness of this point of view is sufficient. The item 2 ,“'Criticism'involves not only challenging ideas, but also trying to 'present' a appropriate point ofview.”The mean is 4.05, greater than 4.0. The majority of participants(87.5%) agreed with this view. Raising appropriate questions and thinking in an evaluative way arethe core processes of critical thinking ( Gu Zhengyi, 2006). Since the majority ofparticipants have a high level of recognition that thinking in an evaluative way andpresenting appropriate questions are parts of the critical thinking, it can be concludedthat they have good understanding of the core in the process of thinking critically.
