Abstract
This study attempts to examine perceptions among Asians investing in the real estate market of urban Auckland. Commencing with a review of the relevant literature, the aim of the study is to identify the key factors influencing decision-making behaviour when Asians purchase a house. The significance of the study lies in its attempt to provide sound advice to real estate agencies, real estate developers and prospective house buyers. This is realised based on a discussion of the study’s findings in order that these parties can provide better service and make correct decisions.
The discussion is underpinned by the findings of a questionnaire survey of 120 samples of private property owners in urban Auckland to determine their perceptions of decision-making in relation to a house purchase decision. Through the findings, the author details these perceptions and then through correlation analysis also explores the in-depth relationship between two key variables. The results suggest that there are a number of factors influencing real estate decision-making by Asians. Findings also imply that the perceptions of Asian consumers could be different from other ethic groups due to specific culture and values so real estate agencies or real estate developers thus need offer their effective services or suggestions after careful consideration of perceptions particular to Asians. For the prospective house buyer, it puts forward the advices through the results as the
