摘要:本文是一篇市场营销留学论文。产品要想获得市场成功,第一眼引起消费者注意的就是包装设计,特别是包装的颜色选择,包装专业人员熟知消费者的心理需求,才能使这些产品更容易引其消费者的注意。本文简要分析产品包装中色彩选择的重要性。

Ø “Good looking package design influences my decision as it reflects a good quality product.”

Ø “When you see that some soft drinks packages are made of high quality material with nice design you think that the product would be premium also.”

Ø “Even if it is hard to pick a quality product, I believe that a nicely designed package helps me in being more confident about the product.”


1.1.2 Time pressure

Time pressure frequently affects shopping decisions. Participants agreed that when shopping under stressful conditions, they spent less time buying a product. They described shopping under time pressure as making quick decisions without proper evaluation. This has made them purchase fewer products than intended and led to unplanned purchases. They also made most decisions quickly at the point of sale:

Ø “I was in a hurry and needed to pick something quickly while I was shopping with my children.”

Ø “When I'm in a hurry, it happens that I always buy something I didn't want to.

Ø Whenever I am in rush, it is hard for me to decide. Most of the time, I made mistakes of confusion with those colourful products on the shelf.


This indicates that colours play a big role in decisions under time pressure, which reduces the ability to evaluate carefully. Consumers nowadays report such patterns. Often they suggest that colour make information more visual and easier to process quickly. The survey indicate that younger consumers feel even more time pressure and men are even more in a hurry than women shoppers .


1.1.3 Colour

Participants clearly felt that packaging helps in getting a positive shopping experience. Colour communicate about the product for both low and higher involvement products, and was among the most noticeable factors. Poor colours can lose the sale for many consumers, while attractive colours gains it for many:

Ø A colourful pack always catches my attention first. I recently put off the low fat soft drink by the pale colour package.

Ø I found the pale packaging boring and dull. If the pack is dull, the taste could be guessed as boring.

Ø I usually go for the colourful package when I am looking for kids' products.

Ø On my first purchase and without a favourite brand, I made my decision on juices by the design of the label.


Some participants underlines that the appearance was crucial. Therefore, they intended to buy products with the distinctive package design based on their colours. Distinctive colours become part of the brand identifier, and consumers use the colours to cut through shelf clutter to find their brands:

Ø 7When I am looking for a juice, the colour of the package helps me to find the product quicker . . . When I remembered that the colour of my kid's favourite juice was green, I kept looking for the green pack on the shelf.


Many consumers commented that similar colour layout by other brands can confuse them in identifying their brands.
