Introduction
Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are indispensable parts of socialist market economic structure. They occupy a pivotal position in the development of the national economy and have made outstanding contributions for the development of the economy. Facing the challenges of economic globalization, SMEs should also find its market direction and formulate strategic choice. In the global environment, the enterprises driven by the profits and competition should beyond national borders and meet the needs of the world market. The integration of the world economy today is more and more obvious. Whether active or passive, companies must compete with other countries. So taking the initiative to foreign markets and enhancing the competitiveness in the international market has become an important strategic choice for all enterprises, SMEs should also do that. In the essay, it will introduce the market direction and strategic choices of SMEs.

The market direction of SMEs
SMEs in the industry of low technology face fierce competitiveness. More importantly, with the development of globalization, a large number of foreign and domestic investments are introduced. Some low-level industries are overproduction. After surplus, the out way is to export or make foreign investment. To go abroad and make foreign investment is the only way for businesses. The SMEs in the core technology, management ability, financial strength, economies of scale and other disadvantage aspects become increasingly apparent. Evidence of “born-global” firms indicates the need for multiple approaches to explain internationalization (Knight, 2000). In the wave of economic globalization, every business must face many international markets. In addition, the state and government also encourage SMEs to establish multinational companies and international brands. Under such conditions, the SMEs must put their survival on the overall development of the global economy to determine the global market as their market direction.

As known that, SMEs are smaller with limited financial resources; the economies of internal scale are not obvious. However, if the SMEs compose of "enterprise group" and make "cluster" foreign investment, they can fully share management resources and form the scale advantages. In addition, the decision-making of SMEs are simple and highly efficient and can make more flexible, timely, favorable response. SMEs within less internal links can easily assess the efficiency of the staff and improve management efficiency. SMEs with flexibility, high market adaptability, low market cost can access more customers and response to market faster. What is more, in the product development, SMEs are willing to design and manufacture products suited to local conditions and open up the market gap which multinational dismiss, and its products are high professional and very unique. So to determine the global market as their market direction is a good choice.
