摘要:随着不断深入的全球化的大趋势下,中国经济的快速发展,翻译活动FI利益的重要推广的需求不断增加。宣传翻译目的很明确:提出自己的问题,关系到国家形象宣传翻译质量的宣传效果起着重要的决定作用。

语用失误可以说是功能翻译错误,只要功能上的失误,直接或间接损害的翻译。因为译者在翻译过程中,产生功能性错误忽略了观众的翻译或翻译。


Chapter 1 Introduction引言


1.1 General description of the study研究描述

It creates the need to communicate with people of different cultural background inthe world. China has always kept active in participating in international events. China'smembership in the World Trade Organization and hosting of the 2008 Olympic Gamesand the World Expo 2010 have rekindled awareness and interest in the country'sbooming development.https://www.51lunwen.org/translation/ The translation of publicity materials of world exposition aims at informing itspotential customers of the situations and progress of the exposition so as to encouragetheir participation and visit. However, because of the difference in various aspects,thetranslation of Chinese publicity materials is ridden with problems, which often lead tomisunderstandings and even harm the international image of China. Furthermore, theinadequacies and mistakes in translation lead to unsatisfactory communication withpotential foreign visitors who are eventually discouraged from visiting it. In suchcircumstance, it is imperative that some efforts be needed to guide and discipline thetranslation of Chinese publicity materials.China has successfully hosted Shenyang International Horticultural Exposition(2006),Shanghai World Exposition (2010) and Xi'an International HorticulturalExposition (2011), among which Shanghai World Expo is considered to be the grandestone. It is reported that China will host another two Expos — Qingdao InternationalHorticulture Expo and Tangshan International Horticulture Expo in 2014 and 2016respectively. How to attract more participants and visitors in one world exposition? It isobvious that a good publicity campaign is of vital importance. However, the translationof publicity materials dominates how success the publicity campaign will be, and thendecides how big the exposition will be.Based on the above facts, the author of this thesis will do a tentative study on theC-E translation of foreign-oriented publicity materials by using Functionalist translation1theory — Skopostheorie to explore the underlying principles, finding out the existingproblems and working out effective solutions.


1.2 Significance of the study研究意义
As an international event world expo stands a chance of gathering people withdifferent cultural backgrounds together. It helps people in exchanging experience,drawing inspiration from other cultures and showing the progress in all aspects havebeen achieved. Shanghai Expo is a grand event for Chinese people, which causes thewhole population of China to make various preparations for it. The translation of itsofficial publication for publicity is among one of them.《中国2010 年上海世博会概m)} {An Overview of the World Exposition Shanghai China 2010) is an officialpublication that systematically introduces Shanghai Expo. With the best hopes that theEnglish translated version of this book would satisfy foreign readers' expectation andencourage potential visitors' involvement. However, unappropriate translationphenomenon exists in a large number and necessary revisions are desired.
