2.2 Theoretical Foundations of the Study
The theoretical foundations in this research involve Situational Teaching,Double-coding Theory and Visual learning theory.
2.2.1 Situational Teaching Method
English Situational Teaching is based on the basic theory of Situational Teaching,through the setting of scene, to achieve the goal of language communication. In the1950s, A.S. Hornby (1956), a British scholar and a representative of situational teaching method, believed that 'when using situational teaching method, teachersshould first introduce new words and sentence structures to students, pave the way forreading, and then start to process articles'. In 1989, a paper entitled 'situationalcognition and learning culture' proposed the definition of situational teaching method.According to the author Brown (1994), 'only by using knowledge in real life can weproduce real meaning. Knowledge should never be separated from the environment.The best way to learn knowledge is to create knowledge in some cases'. Experts andscholars in our country have also introduced situational teaching method into ourcountry to study it. Jin Ping (1994) pointed out situational teaching method refers tothe introduction of specific image in the teaching of the situation, so that students canlearn easily and happily under the inspiration of specific situation.

The following is an analysis and discussion of the results of the teachers’questionnaire.
4.1.1.1 Results and Discussions of Teachers' satisfaction with illustrations
Through the statistics of the frequency and proportion of the questionnaire,nearly 50% of the teachers think that illustrations play an important role in theteaching materials. It can be seen that textbook illustrations, as an indispensableteaching resource, can be recognized by most of the teachers.
