You will rhetorically analyze the excerpt provided from Jonathan Kozol’s Savage Inequalities. You will choose the elements of the rhetorical situation and rhetorical strategies that you will analyze.
 
Purpose
Your goal is to compose an essay that rhetorically analyzes the reading. You will examine the rhetorical situation (author, topic, audience, purpose, and occasion) of the reading to assist in your analysis. You will also examine all of the rhetorical strategies (argument, evidence, reasoning, persuasive appeals, structure, and style) used in the reading.
