His translated version of the diary is published byShanghai Sanlian Publishing House in 2010. Qiu Yi, a famous associate professor,long engaged in English and American literature and English teaching and researchwork. She also has many excellent translated works such as Gina B. Nahai’sMoonlight on the Avenue of Faith and Caspian Rain, Read My Pins: Stories from aDiplomat’s Jewel Box by Madeleine Albright. Her translated version was published byZhejiang Literature and Art Publishing House in 2005.This thesis mainly consists of four chapters.Chapter One is literature review, which introduces studies on the diary novel inthe west and the concept of humor translation so as to lay a foundation for theresearch. Chapter Two gives a brief introduction of the original text and author as wellas the translated versions and the two translators. The main stylistic features of thebook are elaborated on. Chapter Three analyzes the translation features of the twoChinese versions on the linguistic level by comparison. Chapter Four elaborates onthe humor translation of the two versions and apply the translation strategy to analyzethe strengths and weaknesses of the two versions and find out how to reproduce thehumor in the original text. In the conclusion part, the translation features embodied inthe book will be summarized and analyzed again and the strengths and weaknesses ofthe two Chinese versions will be stressed. It will also provide guidance for thetranslation researchers to study further on the book and its translation.
