 For easily being understood, Hawks translated “万几宸翰之宝” to ‘Emperor’s private seal, a device containing the words kingly cares’ and royal brush’ in archaic seal script’. Although under the different cultural background, in fact, English ‘kingly cares’ and royal brush’ in archaic seal-script’ have the almost identical meaning with Chinese “万几宸翰之宝”. It could be regarded as “borrow”.
  
Ⅴ. Conclusion
 The global village is now becoming smaller and smaller, and people on the earth long for knowing more about each other’s culture. Concededly, literary translation is the most widely accepted means to promote cultural communication between the East and the West. For translation has a manifold relation to culture, translation without the cinsideration of culture will separate itself from its living soil and such translation cannot demonstrate the variety of culture, neither can it achieve the purpose of translation accordingly.
 Comparative study has been done on Sino-Western cultural differences from the perspectives of historical background,geographic positions,religious beliefs, thingking patterns. This paper dicusses translation strategies on dealing with these cultural differences in literary works. The dispute over foreignization and domestication has existed for a long time. Some people hold that foreignization is an effective strategy in cultural exchange and thus should be given priority to in literary translation. And demestication may be useful in the initial period of translation and for a certain group of contemporary readers, but as the cultural exchange develops fast under the umbrella of globalization, it is losing its priority, while foreignization for its good effect in cultural transfer and in avoiding cultural loss has taken the superior position.
