Ⅰ. Introduction
 English is widely used in the world today and its pronunciation varies a great deal in different geographical areas. Two of the varieties have the greatest influence in second language learning: General British and General American.
  In China, English is being learned as a foreign language. With the social informationization and the economic globalization, the communication and cooperation between countries are becoming more and more frequently, as an international language, we have realized the importance of English. As a subject, English is totally different from other kinds of subjects in the way of how to learn it. We should not only learn grammar, words, but also know how to communicate with others in English, especially, the normal communication. And I think the latter is more important. So we should pay more attention to pronunciation. Second, there’s no doubt that it’s boring to learn a language because it’s difficult for foreigners to learn a language different from their mother tongue. To solve these problems, exactly distinguish pronunciation from dialect to mandarin, from mandarin to English is a good way.

 1. The characters of the Guizhou local dialect and its phonetics
 Guizhou dialect belongs to the Northern dialect, beside, the regular pattern of phonetics and the phonetic feature of Guizhou dialect is quite different from English. However, different regions in Guizhou Province are also different from each other. And then, to take Guiyang dialect for an example, it consists of nineteen initial consonants and thirty-two final sounds.
2.  The effect of Guizhou local dialect on mandarin of middle school students
2.1 The similarities between Guizhou dialect and mandarin on phonetics
2.1.1 Initial consonant, final sound
     Mandarin consists of twenty-one initial consonants and thirty-two final sounds. Guiyang dialect consists of nineteen initial consonants and thirty-two final sounds. It should be noted that not only the mandarin but also the Guiyang dialect has the same number of final sound.
2.1.2 Tone
     Level tone, rising tone, falling rising tone and falling tone exist in both mandarin and Guiyang dialect. The cause lies in the fact that contemporary Chinese language has a tone of each syllable. Different tones lead to different meanings.
2.2 The differences between Guizhou dialect and mandarin on phonetics
2.2.1 Initial consonant    
 As to mandarin, it consists of twenty-two initial consonants (b p m f d t n l g k h j q x zh ch sh r z c s).
 It is obviously that the local people in Guiyang cannot distinguish [l]and [n], [zh] [ch] [sh] and [z] [c] [s]，[f]and [h] correctly. For example
 “来”   “娘”        “夫”  “呼”
