摘要:First of all, most of the students in the school the researcher teachesin are timid because of geographical and cultural factors. Lack ofconfidence, they are quite afraid of being laughed by classmates andbeing criticizing by the teacher.
1.2 Definition of cooperative learning
Research into cooperative learning dated back to the 1970s.Although a large number of research results have undergone around theworld for nearly 40 years, including theories and practice, researchers andexperts haven't reached a mutual agreement on its definition. To study itsessence and understand its basic content scientifically, the researcher listssome main representatives and their opinions on the definitions asfollows.Slavin states that cooperative learning refers to a variety of teachingmethods in which students work in small groups to help one another learnacademic content. (Slavin, 1995:2)Johnson, D.W. and Johnson, R. T. in the cooperative learning centerin University of Minnesota in America define cooperative learning as "theinstructional use of small groups so that students work together tomaximize their own and each other's learning". (Johnson, D.W., Johnson,R. T. and Holubec, 1993:9)Dr. Sharan, famous psychologist from Tel Aviv University in Israel,points out that "Cooperative learning is the general term of a series ofmethods to organize and promote classroom teaching. The cooperationamong students in the learning process is the basic characteristic of allthese methods." (Sharan. Y,Sharan, S: Cooperative InvestigationExpends Cooperative Learning, Educational Leadship, 1990: PI37)

The researcherchose Class 310 as the experimental class and Class 312 as the controlclass.
