Abstract
Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man (1952) is one of the most excellent fictions in America since the end of the Second World War, for its special point of view, profound insight and superb art. The paper researches the arts of humor in the fiction. In some sense, the fiction is a “black humor”. Through the humors, Ellison shows his sympathy on American black and reveals some injustices and chaos of the society.

艾里森的小说《看不见的人》(1952)是美国自二战以来最具影响力的小说之一。小说的伟大之处在于它独特的视角、深刻的观察和高超的艺术。本文探讨小说的幽默艺术,作者把人的荒唐处境加以戏剧化的放大,使小说具有黑色幽默的特点。作者通过幽默表达了他对美国黑人的同情和对美国社会不公正现象的鞭笞。

Introduction
American black novelist Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man is the most influential fiction in American literature since the Second World War. When it was first published in 1952, it was rewarded as “a fiction that marked an era and an epic of black’s modern life.” For its profound thoughts and master arts, it gained immediately great fame. It is considered a classic by academics both in America and at abroad. The book was listed in the course of literature or Africa study in many American universities during the 1960s. Since the 1960s, lots of Doctorate
thesises on Invisible Man and Ellison have came out constantly. And 1979 saw the out coming of expert works on Ellison. There are still thesises about Invisible Man appearing in China. These thesis‘ arguments range from the culture to the society, from point of view to arts of the work, from the whole fiction to one aspect. The arguments recognize the universal meaning of a theme-----to arise people by telling a black’s story and experiences to find a way to value them. However, that doesn’t hide the author’s sympathy on the black and unpleasedness with the injustices and chaos in American society. The author e xpresses his mind in manners of humors. The paper will research the art of humors in the fiction and reveal the implication in the humors. In order to achieve the goal, we have to at first analyze the author‘s life and literature career, then remove our vision to the contextual examples of humors, next, classify the examples, and gain some principles.

Ellison’s life, especially his childhood, has great influences on his literature career. His life built up his writing style and gives him a wide horizon and leads him to his success in writing.
