5.1 Main findings

With the analysis of the questionnaire,think aloud protocols and interviews,this study explores the overall situations of the strategy used in the listening andspeaking,the correlation between English academic achievement and strategy,thedifference in strategy use between different language proficiency as well asdifferent genders.What’s more,using the think aloud protocols is not only to have adeeper understanding of their strategy use in the listening and speaking,but alsofind out their difficulties on listening and speaking strategies and factors thataffected their choice of strategy use and their efficiency of strategy use.The mainfindings of the study can be concluded as follows.

Firstly,as to the overall situation of the strategies used in listening and speaking,students from different grades can use some of listening and speaking strategies,realize the importance of strategies and master certain strategies to facilitate theirlearning.But the frequency of these strategies falls between 3.0 and 3.2,at thelower-middle level,which is not sufficient for students to develop listening andspeaking ability.This is attributed by the sources of students and the lack of dailyEnglish listening and speaking.And the rank of the used strategy is as follows:compensation strategies,social strategies,cognitive strategies,meta-cognitivestrategies and affective strategies,because the compensation strategies is useful forthem to cover the shortage in language competence.And it’s necessary to deepenthe instruction of the affective strategies and social strategies.

6.1 Summary

In conclusion,this study investigated the overall situation of listening andspeaking strategies on senior high school students under the background of thelistening and speaking test in college entrance examination through the method ofquestionnaire,think aloud protocols and interviews.This study found that studentscould use varieties of strategies in listening and speaking,and students from differentlanguage levels and genders use different amounts and frequencies of strategies in it;the most frequent strategy is compensation strategy,while the least frequent strategyis affective strategies.And students encounter plenty of difficulties in listening andspeaking strategy uses and the efficient students and inefficient students have differentpreference and modals to handle the materials.But on the whole,the strategy use is atthe medium level and the variation between efficient and inefficient students issignificant.Therefore,it’s of great importance论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
