Conclusion

According to the analysis of the research, the author can see that Englishnewspapers are efficient teaching and reading materials for teachers and students.Teacher’s appropriate instruction, students’ active participation and their good Englishreading habits all contribute to the improvement of students’ reading strategies andlanguage comprehensive ability. On the base of the research, the author makes somesuggestions for people’s future researches and proposes a few further researchquestions.
Firstly, just as mentioned before, students are actually positive in Englishnewspaper reading. The latest news and updated language attract their attention.Through reading the newspaper, most of the students’ English vocabulary is enlarged,their reading strategies are improved, their background knowledge of the foreigncountries is broadened, and their comprehensive language abilities are improved.Therefore, English newspapers should be adopted and more widely used as asupplementary reading material to textbooks in English teaching and learning, whichis not only in order to improve students’ comprehensive language abilities, but also toenhance their literary attainments. However, how to make full use of Englishnewspapers in class teaching needs further exploration.
Secondly, teachers are the center in the traditional teaching class, and studentsonly remember the knowledge teachers teach them passively. This phenomenon leads to a dull and boring atmosphere in class which makes students have no interest inlearning English.
