Sustainability Measures for COVID-19 Pandemic is edited by Rashmi Agrawal,Mamta Mittal,and Lalit Mohan Goyal.This book,divided into fourteen chapters,focuseson sustainability in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak,discussing ways to limit theglobal spread of the pandemic and to survive in the environment holistically.It alsodiscusses the economic impact of coronavirus outbreaks on the world.In summary,thepandemic caused by COVID-19 has had a profound impact on societies and individualsworldwide.Although emerging technologies have been widely used in the past,theappearance of the COVID-19 pandemic requires using these technologies in relevantsectors.

Sustainability is the buzzword now and is a major area of research across computerscience and engineering,electrical engineering,and other engineering disciplines.Sustainable development is an approach to improving human life in general.There is anurgent need to monitor and analyze pandemic situations to achieve sustainability,such asusing pattern recognition for epidemic risk analysis or addressing mental health challengesduring an outbreak.This book presents approaches to finding solutions and providesinsights into exploring innovative methods and predictive modeling techniques to preventpandemic infections in the masses.

2.2 Text Features

According to the text typology theory proposed by Katharina Reiss,a Germanfunctionalist scholar,texts can be divided into three categories:informative,expressive,and operative.The focus of the informative text is the content conveyed,the expressivetext is used to express personal attitude,and operational text is used to attract readers tobehave in a certain way(Liu,2009).The text selected by the author covers various fieldssuch as the Internet of Things,Web Services,COVID-19,and digital transformation.Interms of language,this text has obvious characteristics of social science style and is atypical informative text.In the process of translation,the author found that the linguisticcharacteristics of scientific and technical English are significantly different from those ofgeneral English.For example,the text is rigorous and logical,the content is objective andinformative,and the sentence style is neat and less varied(Wang,2007:144-146).Specifically,the use of technical terms,passive sentences,and long sentences are verycommon.These are both key and difficult points in the process of translation of scientificand technical texts.

The most prominent lexical feature of scientific and technical texts is the extensive useof scientific and technical terms.The source text refers to technical terms in manyprofessional fields such as the Internet of Things,Web Services,COVID-19,and digitaltransformation.The vocabulary in the Internet field includes the names of foreign websitesand a large number of application programs,and some of them have no fixed Chinesetranslation,such as Arogya Setu,Smittestop,and TraceT ogether.Other technical termsinclude Lightweight Application Programming Interfaces,edge computing capacity,andRFID.When translating these professional terms,the author cannot translate according to formal equivalence because it can lead to ambiguity and mistranslation.However,theauthor needs to consult professional materials to accurately grasp the meaning of the word.
