INTRODUCTION

We have entered the twenty first century successfully, but our country Pakistan is confronted with ever increasing issues, so we can take the model of the economically prosperous countries of the world and then learn the lessons from them in almost all the aspects deemed necessary for the development of the country, because these countries were not at the same level where they are today, it required continuous efforts of generations to reach at this level, so developing countries can take the model of Advanced countries and should get as much benefit out of it as they can, although their scenario might be different from them but they will get to know how to go-up through the stares of development.

Today in Pakistan, which is basically an agrarian country we find that there is an apparent gap between our industry and academia, although some level of research is conducted at both the ends, but why is this that we are lagging behind not only in the international arena but also from our neighboring Asian countries, including China and India who got independence at the same time as we got. In our project, we have primarily focused on the issue of bridging the gap between the industry and the academia, for this we have taken the examples of the most advanced countries of the world including America, England, Australia, Japan, and rapidly thriving Asian countries including China and India, to find out what were the issues that these economies had to face and what were the actions, legislations and policies made by the governments of these countries to overcome such issues.

In order to bridge the gap between the industry and academia, first of all trust is needed to be built between the two, because it has been observed that both these entities are reluctant and hesitant in sharing and collaborating with one another, so trust needs to be built up between the two and in order to build this relationship of trust serious efforts are required on both the ends, but this cannot be done in weeks or few months and thus requires a continuous and cohesive struggle from the academia and the industry and this is not all, because these two are not the only stakeholders in any country, whatever the development takes place in the industry side and the academia, the society as well as the government of the country should benefit from it. In this perspective it requires serious efforts from the government end so that it should create such an environment for the industry and the academia that they are not only able to work effectively independently, but are also comfortable in collaborating with one another, so that the overall society can get benefit out of it, and lead our country to the path of development.
