The purpose of scientific translation or interpretation is to convey theinformation of particular domains,so that people in different regions can exchangetechnology and science.The information that is conveyed is objective andinter-cultural.Thus,interpreters of scientific interpretation have similar purpose,which is to convey accurate information as much as possible.To achieve thispurpose,the author applied some strategies in the interpreting process.

4.1.1 Note-taking Design

Compared to other types of texts,the content of this open course has denseinformation,many of which are uncommon concepts that interpreters are notfamiliar with.As a result,note-taking has occupied a considerable amount of energyin interpretation.Interpreter’s time consumption on note-taking and responseduration to it have close connections to their cognitive load.(Li Jin,2022:36)For saving energy and improving the comprehensive quality of interpretation,the authordid some design on note-taking to make it more brief and understandable.On theone hand,some specialized nouns were symbolized by abbreviations,acronyms orcombined with simple strokes.For instance,“cumulus clouds”was written as“CC”,and“cirrocumulus clouds”as“C-C”,“thunderstorm”as“T-S”,and“barometer”as“Bj”.On the other hand,simple geometric figures can symbolizemuch information in the text.For example,arrows can stand for various kinds ofdirections,relationships and the development of things.Besides,figures areparticularly useful in descriptive scenes.By this,the author caught more key pointsand cleared more information she had heard.

Conclusion

This report is an analysis of a simulated scientific interpretation.The fastspeaking speed of the speaker,the highly professional content of the material,aswell as the compact sentence structure were difficult tasks for the author,resulting inproblems in listening comprehension and logic in both source text and target text.

Due to the limited specific term storage and lack of energy,the author missedsome information.Scientific interpretation requires reasonable energy allocation ofthe interpreters because of its intensive information and specialty,which is a difficultpoint.However,the content of the text contains many notional words such as nouns,and they are easier to understand and record compared to abstract concepts.Thus,the author changed her way of note-taking,and paid more attention to graspingkeywords.As time in interpretation is precious,she also chooses to omit somesecondary information for reducing the energy burden.Besides,the complexsentence structure of the original text is also a challenge.The insufficient linguisticknowledge of the author often leads to her misunderstanding of the source text andconfusion about the target text.So she adopts segmentation to cut the sentences intosense groups,following the coherence rule.She used free interpretation to make thetarget text follow the Chinese language habit and easier for audiences to accept,which is the primary goal of scientific interpretation.
