Abstract
Idioms are the essence of language and carry abundant culture information. Translation, especially idioms translation, is not easy work because we have to deal with a lot of culture sense besides making the linguistic transference. This paper, from the perspective of English and Chinese culture, aims at exploring how the culture sense influences the practice of English idiom translation. By comparing similarities and differences of culture senses between English and Chinese, the author tries to find some effective methods of English idiom translation.

习语是语言的精华,蕴含丰富的文化信息。译者除了进行语言上的转换外,还必须处理大量的文化意蕴,这使得翻译特别是习语翻译变得困难。本文从英汉语文化的角度,探讨文化意蕴对于英语习语翻译的影响,以及相应的翻译方法。

However, cultural elements are often barriers to translators. t is very necessary for us to know the importance of culture sense in the process of English idioms translation. The idioms mentioned here include metaphorical phrases, slang, colloquialism, proverbs and so on. In the following five chapters, the writer will offer a discussion of the influence of culture sense on the translation of English idioms.

1.1 Definition of culture sense
