2.2 Translation Strategy and Practicality
Every target text has its own text function, but different target readers with differenttexts would have different intended uses. Therefore, different translation strategies wouldcome into being according to different intended uses. A Course in English LanguageTeaching is a literature combining foreign language educational theory and practice. Asmentioned in the Function plus Loyalty approach, when translating the teaching referencebook, the translator should consider not only the information transfer but also how torealize the function of the target text in the target situation. According to the Function plusLoyalty approach, the practical use in translating teaching reference book is chosen as thetranslation strategy.For translator, it is important to analyze the features of source text. Teachingreference book has the features of large amounts of information, text content focus andexplicit function. The educational and linguistic terms and concepts are important to targetreaders. From source text to target text, the context and readers of this teaching referencebook changed. Borrowing Chinese version from existing literature can be used in translating some specific educational and linguistic terms and concepts. Then the targetreaders can grasp the meaning of the source texts and use them conveniently. At the sametime the practical use of teaching reference texts translation is oriented, which can givemore references for high school English teachers on English teaching. As noted by Nord,function refers to factors that make the target text work in the intended way when thesource text is translated. When translating some classroom teaching methods, thetranslator should help target readers use the reference book conveniently. Listing theseclassroom teaching methods in order is used as a translation method for the scattereddistribution of them in source text.
