Political Factors

As a federal republic, Switzerland is consisting of 26 cantons. No one will doubt about the stable political environment of Switzerland. Switzerland even could be free from two World Wars.  And government of Switzerland intervenes little in the economy aspect. Index of Economic Freedom is very high. In the aspect of taxation, tax rate does keep in a stable level in recent decades of years. What is more, for promoting economy and investment, government of Switzerland has signed double taxation avoidance treaty with around 70 different countries and states in the whole world (International Monetary Fund. (2012). This means the political environment of Switzerland is positive for investment. Even like this, there are also the negative aspects which should be considered about. As one federal republic, legal of each canton has largely differences. Even there is the unified substantial law, but no unified procedural law does cause inconvenience. What is more, labor shortage situation is very serious in Switzerland and relative employment cost is very high. Even toward intern student, organization should provide all social welfares.  In one sentence, macro political environment is positive and optimistic of hotel industry in Switzerland, along with some negative factors.

Economic Factors

Switzerland’s whole economy situation is stable, prosperous and high technology. From per capita terms, Switzerland is the richest state in 2011 in the whole world. From nominal GDP, it is 19th largest economy entity (Credit Suisse. 2011). From purchasing power, it is 36 largest (Credit Suisse. 2011). Service industry is one main sector for whole Switzerland.  Every year, countless visitors and business men went there. For example, just in 2006, around 20 million foreign visitors stayed overnight (International Monetary Fund. 2012); while since the macro economy is gloomy in recent years, this number is decreased in 2012. But it is expected that in 2013, this situation will be improved. 
From the case of Golden Arch Hotel, it can be found that Rumlang, the market, developed fast since it is widely welcomed by both young and old people. What is more, Airport Zurich-Kloten also brought more potential customers, since large number of mobility population will come and go under this infrastructure. But this business optimistic is also caught by so many business men. Even in three years, 40% growth rate was reached and more about 3000 new rooms were produced out.  In addition, more environment factors challenges this industry seriously, such as human resource problem.
