1  Introduction
Background of the Thesis
Several decades or even years ago, the topics that people talked are still about American and European countries where people are well fed, living in abundance, and experiencing highly advanced technologies. After the shock of economic crisis to the world, these shining and well developed countries seem to be faded out a little. China, as a rising powerful country, occupies the attentions of people gradually. This rapidly rising country impresses the world and shows its influence in each field of social development. The information about China can be got through various channels because of the fast developing technology or with the help of Internet. 
However,  many people  show great  interests  on  government  documents  for information collection. It is no doubt that government documents are the faithful record of social development in economics, culture and politics. The credibility of the information and richness in the content contribute a lot to the welcome of government documents. Not only for the readers or 1_isteners out of China but also for Chinese people, Chinese government documents can display the situations of domestic development in various fields and related polices clearly.
Besides, the lexical density in the Chinese version of Chinese government documents is about 86% which is much higher than other kinds of discourse.  Lexical density means the ratio of content word to the total vocabulary. That means the words employed in Chinese government documents are abundant in contents. This is the same situation when referring to the English version of Chinese government documents.
