2.1 Definitions of Key Terms

In this part,the definitions of homework and homework design are introduced indetail.

2.1.1 Definition of Homework

In the word“homework”,“home”means the place where the activity is carriedout and the word“work”is interpreted as,in the Ci Hai,the activity carried out tofulfil the established tasks of production,learning,etc.Education Dictionary divideshomework into classroom homework and extracurricular homework.It can be seenfrom this that extracurricular work is what we refer to as“homework”.

The concept of“homework”first refers to the tasks done after work and outsidethe factory.When applied to the field of education,it refers to students’extracurricular learning or students’learning not under the direct supervision ofteachers.Homework first appeared in schools in Germany in 1505(Yao,2003).Itbegan to develop as a learning activity during the Reformation movement.When theteaching shifts from the individual teaching to the class teaching,the homeworkbecomes a means of individual learning and plays a role in making up for the singledeficiency of the school learning activities.Olympia,Sheridan and Jenson(1994)alsobelieved that homework is assigned by the school and requires students to use theirnon-school time to apply their academic skills to other fields.In the 19th century,theGerman educator Herbart began to influence European schools.In the GeneralEducation,Herbart advocated that students use and practice what they had learnedafter class,which encouraged to leave more time at home to teach knowledge learnedin the school classroom,that is to say,the homework became the continuation ofin-class study(F.Kurt.1990).Bembenutty(2011)believed that homework is one of the important and effective educational activities,which helps to develop and expandthe value of education.

2.2 Theoretical Foundations

This research has two theoretical foundations:humanistic education theory andzone of proximal development theory.

2.2.1 Humanistic Education Theory

Humanistic psychology originated in the United States in the 1950s.Its founderswere Maslow and Rogers.Humanistic education theory is the embodiment ofhumanistic thought in the field of education.A fundamental view of humanisticeducation theory is that learning theory should start from the learner’s own positionand meaning,rather than learning from any observer’s description.That is to say,onlythe learning material is meaningful for individuals,learning is real learning.(Liu,2002).As Zhang(1994)described that“every person is like a seed,as long as theappropriate environment can be given,will take root,grow and bear fruit.Everyonehas self-fulfilling potential within them.”

The purpose of humanistic education is not only to impart scientific knowledgeand skills,but also to cultivate the learning ability of the educated so that they canlearn to cultivate their innovative ability and tap their creative potential.Eventuallyform its sound personality to promote its comprehensive development fully realize itsown potential and value to achieve“self-realization”.Rogers(Li,2018)believed that the basic characteristics of this“complete man”,that is who achieve“self-realization”,are dynamic,processed and creative people.It is a person who integrates body,mind,emotion,spirit and spiritual power.And he described论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
