摘要:近年来,越来越多的研究者把教学研究的中心从老师转移到学生,从老师的"教”转移到学生的"学 ”。所以培养学生的自主学习能力成为英语教育探索的一个热门话题。
reatly influenced by the policy implemented by the Ministry ofEducation which defines the purpose and content of learning, adjusts curriculum and dominates the wholeeducation administration. The new English Curriculum Standards offers the purpose and content of learningEnglish. “Its main task is to inspire and educate students to become interested in learning English so thatstudent build self-confidence, develop good study habits and develop effective learning strategies,including developing self-learning ability, students’ observation, memory, thinking ability” (EnglishCurriculum Standards, 2001: 6). It indicates that basic education English course’s overall objective is todevelop students overall language proficiency. The formation of an integrated language proficiency baseson student language skills, language knowledge, emotional attitudes, learning strategies and culturalawareness. However, it is obvious that the traditional teaching method can’t meet the requirements of thelifelong learning in the information exposition era and the needs of the new English Curriculum Standards.The new curriculum makes us be aware of that teachers should realize the importance of autonomouslearning, get the students be familiar with the learning strategies and assist the students to developappropriate learning strategies. The previous study also could prove that learning
strategy plays an essentialrole in autonomous learning. For example, Green and Oxford (1995) make an investigation to research intothe relationship between strategy use, gender factors and proficiency among 374 students at the Universityof Puerto Rico. They reach a conclusion that there is a significant correlation between learning strategy useand proficiency. The more frequent the students employ the learning strategy, the better performance theyseem to have. The analysis of the data also indicates gender factors have an impact on the use of learningstrategy and the achievements of the students. I chose junior middle school students in Affiliated MiddleSchool of Henan Normal University as the research objects. It is obvious that there is much difference inlearning skills between primary school and junior middle school. However, by the author’s contact andcommunication with the students, it is easy to find that it takes many students much time to get involvedinto the new environment and adjust their learning strategies. Some students employ the learning strategiesin primary school to deal with the learning tasks in junior middle school. Some students spend a long timeand make great efforts to learn English, but still make little progress. Therefore, the objective of this studyis to learn about junior high school students’ overall situation in their use of English learning strategies, tofind out the differences between the regular class students and accelerated class students in the use oflearning strategies, to get some information about difference in using learning strategies between boys andgirls, and to give some suggestions to improve students’ use of learning strategies and promote Englishteaching in junior high school.
