摘要:本文是英语语法论文,本文所述的研究性学习在英语语法教学中的应用为教师在语法教学上提供了参考,但受各种因素的影响,本研究仍存在一些不足之处,希望更多的教师对研究性学习提出有价值的建议,使研究性学习得到更好的运用。
Chapter One Introduction
This chapter mainly introduces three parts about the
thesis. The research background is presented at first, which includes the status quo of grammar teaching and the possibility of application of research-based learning to grammar teaching. The second part describes the research purpose and its significance. The last part is an overall framework of the study.
1.1 Background of the study
Cheng (2013) states briefly that the purpose of grammar learning lies not only in guaranteeing the correctness of language use, but also conveying opinions and thoughts. However, in actual grammar teaching, correctness and expression of meaning are not attached equal importance. Under the pressure of exam-oriented education, many English teachers directly present grammatical knowledge to students on blackboard or PPT and explain the syntax rules completely by themselves in class for the sake of saving time instead of working out problems with students together. What students need to do is to take
notes, memorize rules by heart and do a large amount of exercises afterwards to consolidate the grammatical points. Such monotonous grammar teaching pattern provides few opportunities for students to think and express themselves independently, resulting in the poor expression ability in English and the detriment to students’ learning interest in the long run after spending much time memorizing rules mechanically. However, according to the new criteria of grammar teaching proposed by the National Curriculum Standards for Senior High School English, teachers should start teaching from perspective of language performance and try their best to design teaching activities to combine language form, meaning and usage, which is of great benefit for students to grasp ideographic function of grammar in context. Based on above statements on grammar teaching, it is easy to find that there is a large gap between curriculum standards and current grammar teaching situation. How to teach grammar effectively is a tough nut to crack for English educators.

1.2 Purpose and significance of the study
