摘要：幽默是一种特殊的语言现象，其社会功能主要是能引人发笑，产生乐趣，因此许多作家常常使用幽默来调节作品的气氛，以达到特定的语言效果。正是由于幽默的这种特殊性，它一直是国内外学者研究的重点，可以说幽默研究的历史源远流长。但是，大量的文献资料表明，古今中外的学者大多是从文学，艺术，社会学，心理学，语用学，语言学等不同角度来探讨幽默。由于幽默与社会文化等方面联系紧密，在文学翻译中，它一直是一块烫手的“山芋”，是译者最为头疼的问题，所以专门从翻译学的侧面研究幽默的学者也是寥若晨星，屈指可数的。在少数研究幽默翻译的学者中，多数把眼光集中在了功能，文化或关联理论等方面。但这样的翻译研究，学者个人的主观性较强，其客观性在某种程度上有所欠缺。描述翻译学正是一种客观性强的理论，把它作为分析幽默翻译的指导理论，可以避免过于主观，从一个比较客观的角度看幽默的翻译，也许可以另辟奚径，找到一个更好的翻译幽默的方法，给这块烫手的“山芋”降降温。

Abstract:The word "humor" comes from Latin, meaning "moisture". Its mainfunction is to make people laugh. Therefore, many writers are fond ofadjusting the atmosphere of their works by using a certain kind of humor.Humor is shared by every nation. However, different nations have differentkinds of sense of humor, closely related to religion, ideology, society,politics and culture. Therefore, although humor has been studied for a verylong time, most are from the perspective of literature, art, sociology,psychology, pragmatics  or linguistics.  Only a few scholars  study thetranslation of humor, most of whom are from the subjective perspective offunctional equivalence, stylistics, and so on. This thesis tries to study thetranslation of humor from the perspective of DTS. 
  What is Descriptive Translation Studies? In Maria乃moczko's words:Descriptive Translation Studies-when they attend to process, product, andfunction-set translation practices in time and, thus by extension, in politics,ideology, economics, and culture. Scholars of DTS hold the view that thereare no ideal translations. So we get information by studying the existingtranslations instead of paying. any attention to the ideal translation. Throughstudying, norms that are used to judge the translation behavior are hoped tobe found. And according to Cheng Hongwei, at present, the prescriptivemodel  of  "standard-analysis一一conclusion"  dominates  the  field  oftranslation criticism, which is, indeed, suitable effective for a synchronicevaluation of translations.    The author chooses  Pride  and Prejudice  as  the case  study,  themasterpiece of Jane Austen's. Jane Austen is a very famous novelist in theearly 19th century. Sir Walter Scott thought highly of her ability to render"ordinary commonplace things and characters interesting", Macaula andGeorge Lewes regarded her as no less than a "prose Shakespeare"; a.nd inthe twentieth century Brigid Brophy described her as "the greatest novelistof all time".
