毫无疑问,现在英语是使用最广泛的语言,在世界上是最重要的外交语言的人在中国学习。英语学习是一种复杂的过程,包括四项技能:听,说,读,写。而在这四个,作为沟通的工具,写作是一个非常重要的交际方法。...There is no doubt that nowadays English is the most widely used language in the world and isthe most important foreign language people are learning in China. English learning is an integratedand complicated process including four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. And amongthese four, as a tool of communication, writing is a very important communicative method. Alsowe can see that the NMET gives a higher request on senior students' writing ability. It is describedin the new English Curriculum Standard that a qualified senior student before graduation should beable to retell and summarize the content according to the article he reads, to write a passage or areport according to the information given by words or a diagram. And the article should be coherent,smooth and completed. The article should express the writer's opinion and reflect the writer'sattitude. But in the practical teaching, there is still a fatal and unavoidable problem in students'writing: the sentences they have written are not real and authentic English.https://www.51lunwen.org/guidelines/  They are Chinglishcreated from the students' Chinese thinking.In the history of English writing in China, there are many theories and methods discussed andused, including grammatical translation, the direct approach, the situational approach, listening andspeaking approach, communicative methodology, etc. And since writing is so important no matter inan examination or in daily life, English educator developed a number of methodologies to teachwriting, such as process approach, the length approach and result approach and so on. Despite theiradvantages and theory basis, these methods, traditional or creative, do not make any effectivedifference in writing classes in high school. Writing is still a most difficult part in English teachingand learning, either to teachers or to students.With the introduction of all these series of methods teaching writing, many people forget orneglect a traditional method—-recitation, which is proved effective in our mother tongue learning.As an old Chinese saying goes: Ample reading produces fluent writing. Many learners, eveneducators, simply regard the old and traditional methods are not good and recitation is viewed as atime-and-effort consuming and ineffective learning strategy, which leads to the small amounts ofvocabulary and less information in output. Maley (1983) thinks that recitation only helps Chinesestudents to acquire the knowledge of a target language. They cannot use the language as a tool tocommunicate. But other scholars such as Scovel (1983) think recitation is one of the traditionallearning strategies of Chinese students. This factor should be taken into account when studyingEnglish learning in China. Recitation, as a traditional learning strategy, emphasizes thememorization of words, grammar rules and text books. The fact is that it is disregarded by thelearners. The students hate to memorize. They simply regard it as the old and traditional strategywhich is ineffective in improving their English proficiency. Some teachers say it is a kind ofmechanical learning strategy which has no creation of the target language.
