lidity of CF has important theoretical and practical significance for foreign language teaching and research in China. The theoretical significance is that the research on feedback involves many fields such as SLA, psycholinguistics and cognitive psychology, and it involves many important concepts and mechanisms like language learning mechanism, cognitive mechanism and the distinction between first language and second language acquisition. Furthermore, CF is an important part of communicative language teaching method. At present, researchers agree that CF is a critical mean to guide students to pay attention to grammatical forms and improve learners’ accuracy in meaning-oriented English teaching. Although the impact of feedback on SLA has been initially confirmed, but the effectiveness of different types of CF in English classroom still needs further proof.

2.1 Basic Concepts
This chapter deals with the literature review of this study, some basic concepts relevant to CF will be firstly defined, such as the definition and classification of error, CF and uptake. Secondly, the author puts forward the previous research of CF abroad and at home. All the second language learners will make errors in the process of learning. Errors are inevitably and it is a normal phenomenon in language learning. For a long time, however, there is no generally accepted definition of error. Different researchers have given different definitions of errors from different perspectives. For example, Corder (1967) defined errors as the result of learners’ lacking knowledge of the correct rules of language. Chaudron (1988) argued that errors are the language form or content deviating from the norms of native language, it also includes other forms, which the teacher points out that needs to be improved. Moreover, according to Hu Zhuanglin (2002), errors are due to the incorrect or incomplete learning, which lead to learners’ incorrect using of the language. Different scholars have different definitions of errors. In short, error involves a variety of inappropriate language and pragmatic expression. In addition, Corder (1967) also presented the distinction between the concepts of error and mistake. Error refers to the performance of second language learners that do not meet the norms of target language due to the lack of language competence. &nbs
