摘要:本文是一篇英语语言学论文题目,本文基于语言主观性和情态理论,采用案例分析法、定性研究法和归纳法,以China Daily中的中国抗疫话语为例,从情态类型、情态取向、情态量值和情态极性四方面分别探究其主观性,旨在从情态角度探究中国抗疫话语背后所隐藏说话人的主观印记。

onsiders it as aspeaker’s attitude and opinion about the sentence and what it expresses.Manyscholars have also defined modality from this perspective.Quirk(1985)and otherssee modality as a judgment,i.e.,a speaker’s judgment of the truth of a proposition.Asher(1994)argues that modality can be defined as a speaker’s opinion and attitudetoward what he or she says based on his or her perceptions and experiences.Accordingly,it is reasonable to state that modality can indicate the speaker’s opinions,attitudes,and perceptions.Xie(2020)believes that modality is both asemantic concept and a pragmatic concept.Xie(2020)clarifies the nature ofmodality by analyzing how modal meaning is expressed by means of modal auxiliaryverbs.When the modal meaning is expressed from the semantic level of the sentencethrough the meaning of the modal auxiliary verb itself,the modality is semantic innature;when the modal meaning is expressed by the semantic meaning obtainedfrom the semantic reasoning above the whole sentence,the modality is semantic innature.The discourse study of modality has gradually broadened the dimension of itsstudy object.Hu(2022)focuses on the study of modality at the lexical level,analyzes the modal motives starting with fear-like verbs,and finds that the change ofmodality is closely related to the discourse function and discourse strategy.However,the study of the modality discourse is not confined to the lexical level.Shao(2021)focuses on the study of modality at the sentence level,suggesting that on the basis ofthe three major systems of sentences(sentence type,sentence class,and sentenceform),a fourth new system,“sentence modality”,should be constructed,marked by“modality”.It lays the foundation and provides a reference for discourse modalityresearch.

The speaker’s perspective is one of the most important manifestations oflinguistic subjectivity,and in linguistic descriptions,the speaker’s perspective maybe explicit or implicit.Whether the speaker’s perspective is explicit or hidden affectsthe understanding and communication of what is said differently.To this end,thissection focuses on the expression influence of the speaker’s perspective on thesubjectivity of discourse in the relevant corpus of the modality of Chineseanti-epidemic discourse.
