4.1 Translational eco-environment of Chinese political terms

The translator’s selective acceptance and adaptation to restrictions of a specific translational eco-environment in this complex and mixed world is so-called “the translator’s selective adaptation”. According to eco-translatology, translational eco-environment is not only a combination of all kinds of factors that restrict optimal adaptation and selection, but also the ground on which the translator makes multi-dimensional adaptation and transformation. It is necessary, therefore, to make clear the translational eco-environment of Chinese political terms before starting the translation activity and making multi-dimensional transformation.

Generally speaking, however, the eco-environment refers to a whole, which consists of macro translational eco-environment and micro translational eco-environment. More details will be given below.

5.1 Major findings

Through the exploration of the translational eco-environment of Chinese political terms and the adaptive selection in the three-dimensional transformations of Chinese political terms, the author has two major findings:

First, the translational eco-environment of Chinese political terms needs to be considered from macro and micro levels. A translator, in addition to taking into account the international desire for knowledge of China and the country’s own demand for publicity in the macro level, is also required to harmonize the relationship of the reader, the target language and the source language in the micro level.
