1. Introduction


1.1 Background of the study
教育是振兴中国,教师是人兴业。正如医生或律师,教师也应该被视为一种职业,需要丰富的知识和伟大的技能。作为教育改革深化和学生综合素质是强调,甚至更高的要求设置教师。老师应该更灵活、科学和专业。教师不仅要掌握学科知识,而且是教学艺术的专家。课堂是最重要的地方让学生获得知识从老师直接。和课堂教学技能进行太多影响教学效果无疑。我们很难想象一个老师谁是坏在教学技能可以给有成效的,有趣的和成功的经验。学生老师都有望在未来合格教师职业和培养以期提高教育质量。因此,学习和训练的课堂教学技能应该是一个至关重要的追踪教师教育。然而,大多数的教师教育项目往往注意力集中到学科知识,教学技能往往会被忽视,或设置在第二个地方。直接的结果是,学生教师不能适应他们的工作很快毕业后和基础薄弱和缺乏意识阻碍他们的专业发展从长远来看。Education is the way to invigorate China, and teachers are the persons to promoteeducation. Just as doctors or lawyers, teachers should also be seen as a professionalcareer which requires abundant knowledge and great skills. As reforms in educationdeepen and students' overall quality is emphasized, even higher requirements are set forteachers. Teachers are expected to be more flexible, scientific and professional. Teachersshould not only master the subject knowledge, but also be experts in teaching art.Classroom is the most important place for students to gain knowledge from teachersdirectly. And classroom teaching skills exert much influence on teaching effectundoubtedly. We can hardly imagine a teacher who is bad at teaching skills can give aneffective, interesting and successful lesson. Student teachers are expected to be qualifiedteachers in their future career and nurture the hope of improving education quality.Therefore, the learning and training of classroom teaching skills should be a crucial partin teacher education. However, the majority of teacher education programs tend to paymore attention to subject knowledge while teaching skills are often ignored or set in asecondary place. The direct result is that the student teachers can't adapt to their workquickly after graduation and the weak foundation and lack of awareness hinder theirprofessional development in the long term.
At the same time, with the rapid development of market economy and globalization,the talents with high level of English proficiency are badly needed. This poses morechallenges to our English teachers, since English education has long been criticized forits ignorance of authentic communicative needs. English teacher education programsshoulder the responsibility of cultivating qualified English teachers. They shouldunderstand the spirit of new curriculum reform and keep pace with the rapidly changingworld. Classroom is the major place for Chinese students to be exposed to English andclassroom learning is the major source for them to learn English. Student teachersmajoring in English should not only have high English proficiency but also be skillful atclassroom teaching skills which can largely decide whether the class is successful or not.Therefore, it's important for student teachers majoring in English to have scientific and effective learning and training of classroom teaching skills.


1.2 Purposes and significance of the study
The present study focuses on the performance of classroom teaching skills ofstudent teachers majoring in English after theoretical learning. Through observation,evaluation and analysis of their microteaching, we can firstly have a better understandingof their performance in classroom teaching skills after theoretical study of teachingmethodology. Secondly, it aims to offer suggestions for them to improve their classroomteaching skills. The third purpose is giving suggestions for teachers in teacher educationprogram in terms of teaching classroom teaching skills.
