I Introduction

1.1 Background of the Project

The report material from the project called Cloud 596 Corpus Construction, is provided by the MTI center, School of foreign languages, Southwest University of Science and Technology. The project is commissioned by the School of Computer Science and Technology, SWUST. It includes a total of 473 documents with over 300,000 English words. More than 21 translators have participated in it. The project manager assigns the workload to translators. The author's assignment is documents with 11245 words. 

All texts mainly originate from the mainstream electronic media abroad. The project texts cover professional literature, news of science and technology and popular science articles. They report the discovery and innovation of current science and technology in various fields, including biology, chemistry, astronomy, electronics, and other industries. In addition, the author classifies the text according to the content for translation and research. It shows that the authors’ source text belongs to the biomedical field. 

The purpose of this translation practice is to translate the language correctly and prepare for the corpus established by the customer. As the client required, the translation should be clear and faithful, meanwhile using CAT to establish relevant industries corpus. Translation requirements from two aspects: one is accurateness, and the other is standardization. To achieve the goal of accurateness, the translator needs to ensure that professional terms are translated correctly, and the meaning of the articles is expressed accurately. In addition, during translation processing, the translator should take a correct stance and express correct views of the original text content. On the other hand, standardization means that the translation of technical terms is unified and the grammatical structure conforms to the expression habits of the target language. Furthermore, the punctuation is standardized and the form is consistent. 

1.2 Literature Review

In the 2021 Government Work Report, Premier Li Keqiang pointed out that innovation should continue to play a central role in China's overall modernization drive. “We will strengthen our science and technology to provide strategic support for China’s development. Extensive activities should be carried out to help people learn more about science.” (Li Keqiang, 2021) Translation of scientific and technological texts is a kind of this activity. Whether it is popular science texts or scientific and technological news, it promotes the exchange of scientific and technological information and makes people know more about science.

The pandemic breaking has created a huge impact on global development since the end of 2019. In the circumstance, biomedical research is critical to research treatment of the disease or other difficult miscellaneous diseases. The practice material of this report is related to biomedicine, which is a kind of emerging in the scientific and technological field.
