To some degree such borrowing spares the translators’ efforts to find another one. Additionally, some Chinese terms are frequently used in the Chinese translations of English movie titles. For example, someone translated Erin Brockovich into《阿莲正传》，similar to《阿甘正传》(Forrest Gump). In Chinese, “正传”means the story or life of somebody. People in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan have the same mode of thinking and cultural base. As a result, we can see that many English movies have the same TTS in the three regions, esp. those that can be translated literally. From the above table, we can see some characteristics of the three versions. In
Mainland China, where there are the most Chinese audiences in the world, we intend to translate a movie literally if it makes a good title. The translators try to reserve the original specialties. That’s to say, if metaphase can make a good title, the Mainland translators usually don’t refer to other means
There are some advantages behind. Firstly, the audiences can have a comparatively clear idea about what the movie is about. They can get more information from the mainland titles than from those of HK and Taiwan. For example, . It does not tell us what is different in the plot from other love movies.
