摘要:本文是一篇初中英语教学论文,本研究利用语料库检索软件AntConc 3.5.8(Windows)对武汉经济技术开发区第一初级中学三个年级300篇期中考试作文进行了分析,调查了初中生的写作错误。

本文是一篇初中英语教学论文,本研究主要得出以下结论。就错误量的总体分析而言,三个年级的单词错误(wd)最多,句法错误(sn)第二,动词短语错误(vp)第三。接下来,错误按照从多到少的顺序排列:词汇错误(fm)、名词短语错误(np)、代词错误(pr)、介词错误(pp)、副词错误(ad)、形容词错误(aj)、搭配错误(cc)和连词错误(cj)。学生的年级越高,积累的知识越多,他们在写作中犯的错误就越多。

Chapter 1 Introduction

1.1 Research Background

As the carrier of modern knowledge and information,English is the link and bridge tothe world.Therefore,English is getting more and more important,and it is taught as aforeign language(EFL)in our country.English teachers have been attaching substantialimportance to the four basic language skills,i.e.listening,speaking,reading and writing.Among them,writing draws special attention because it demands higher English proficiency.

English writing has been one of the hot topics in curriculum reform and practice inrecent years,and one of the objectives of English teaching is to develop and improvestudents’ability of English writing.The Standard for the English Curriculum forCompulsory Education(2011)prescribes clearly that the overall objective of the Englishcurriculum in the compulsory education period is to make students cultivate a preliminarycomprehensive language application ability through English learning,to promote thedevelopment of students’minds and to improve the overall humanities.Writing,as anessential part of English teaching and learning,can reflect students’comprehensive languagecompetency and help to improve students’thinking and expressing ability.It requiresstudents not only to have solid language knowledge as well as skills,but also to be able towrite down their ideas in English thinking mode and expression habits.

However,it is difficult for students to write in English.Many students cannot or darenot write.They just look at the topic of the composition and are reluctant to write something.And some students just randomly stack the words and phrases they already know to finishtheir writing,so that plenty of expressions in their compositions are not correct or coherent.There are also many students who are used to directly translating Chinese sentences intoEnglish word by word,resulting in many Chinglish sentences,most of which are awkwardbut hardly grammatically correct.

1.2 Research Purpose and Significance

This research aims to analyze the distribution and the causes of errors in junior middleschool students’compositions.In this part,both the purpose of the research and thesignificance of the research are presented.

1.2.1 Purpose of the Research

Based on the error analysis theory and the previous related researches of Englishwriting,the research investigates deeply into the overall situation of junior middle schoolstudents’writing errors in three grades,including the distribution of errors in differentdimensions in each grade,the differences of writing errors between high and low-scoredcompositions in the same grade and the differences of writing errors in different grades.After that,it analyzes the main causes for these writing errors.
