4.1 A Brief Introduction to the Chapter
In the previous chapter , the author has mentioned that, the data of this studycomes from three different parts, they are the English teachers, the students’homework list and the students’ parents. And in this chapter, the author will showthe results which come from the questionnaire observation as well as theinterviews, at the same time, in this chapter the author also found out the answersof the research questions in the whole study. The author demonstrated the result inthree different perspectives , the study on the teachers, students’ homework listand the parents’ views. According to the results from the thirty-two teachers, the author got that all of theteachers would assign homework to their students. At the same time, according to theLeo van Lier’s ‘ gardening in a gale’ theory, we know that the teachers really shouldassign homework to the students. The ‘gardening in a gale’ theory points to a realproblem of all foreign language learning and to a lesser extent also the learning ofacademic and formal registers of the native language. This is mentioned in theprevious chapter , if the gap between what is done in the classroom, and what is doneoutside the classroom, is too great, then the possibilities of learning anything at all arevery seriously impaired. At the same time, a gap can also occur when students feelthat the classroom does not give adequate help in facing tasks outside that classroomwhich appear insurmountable.

Conclusion
In this study, the author’s main purposes are to find out the most suitable Englishhomework for the middle school students. According to the questionnaire for theEnglish teachers , the author got that some of the teachers who were questioned orinterviewed usually ignore the importance of process from exposure to proficiency,instead, some teachers assign lots of homework in order to make their students toreach the step of proficiency, also in the students’ homework list, the author noticedthat almost half of the homework needs copying, learning by heart for sometimes,however, just only a little homework could improve the students’ interests in thissubject. Here is an example from the students’ homework list, and the author got thatthe main content of the English class is the usage of the Cardinal Numbers andOrdinal Numbers.
