本文是一篇高中英语教学论文,笔者希望未来的研究可以通过分析不同年份的全国大学英语考试试卷来纵向进行。这也有利于在职教师的教学。考虑到全国高考改革将在全国范围内实施,建议分析在全国高考中评估的特定能力。这种特殊的英语学科能力可以通过不同形式的试卷进行考试。分析如何在考试中检查能力,可以指导旨在培养一定英语学科能力的教学活动。
Chapter 1 Introduction

1.1 Research Background

The National College Entrance Examination,also known as Gaokao in China,is astandardized admissions testing event for high school students,which is held each summerin mainland China.Gaokao has served as an important tool to examine high schoolstudents’learning achievements.It also guides the teaching activities in senior highschools.

The National College Entrance Examination has been through several stages ofreform with the aim of adapting to the changing world.For example,in 1999,The Ministryof Education introduced online admission to increase higher education enrollment,andChina started to explore the“3+X”subject reform.“3”indicates mandatory subjects,including Chinese,Mathematics,and a foreign language.“X”indicates elective subjectsfrom either social sciences(such as Political sciences,History,and Geography)or naturalsciences(such as Physics,Chemistry,and Biology).In 2000,“3+X”system was trialed inShanxi,Jilin,Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces.In 2001,the number of provinces employingthe“3+X”system was further expanded to 21.Recently,with the promulgation of theOpinions on Deepening the Reform of the Examination and Enrollment System in 2014,anew“3+3”mode has been adopted.Specifically speaking,the former“3”refers to therequired subjects,including Chinese,Mathematics and a foreign language.The latter“3”refers to elective subjects,that is,three subjects are randomly selected from Biology,Geography,Chemistry,Politics,Physics,Information Technology and History.Since then,the“3+X”system has been developed into many forms to meet the demand of the time,most regions would implement the system as the successor of the original one[1].

1.2 Research Purpose and Significance

Although there are already many studies on the National English Matriculation Testpapers,few of them have taken the English disciplinary competence into consideration.Inorder to meet the demand of cultivating students’English core competence,theexamination of disciplinary competence in English tests cannot be ignored.Thus,thisstudy tries to analyze the National English Matriculation Test papers of five independent-proposition provinces with the framework of English disciplinary competence.Specifically,this study aims to explore the characteristics of the distribution of three core activities,sixcore contents in the National English Matriculation Test papers.In addition,it alsoexplores the three core competence embodied in the National English Matriculation Testpapers.

The significance of the study are as follows.

First of all,this study aims to analyze the independent propositions of NationalEnglish Matriculation Test papers from Zhejiang,Shandong,Hainan,Tianjin and Beijingin 2020 with English disciplinary competence framework.Therefore,it enriches the studyof National English Matriculation Test papers,which offers a new research perspective forfuture studies.
