1Chapter One Introduction


1.1 Research Background
这是不言自明的,英语作为国际语言和重要的交际手段之一,成为越来越重要的这些天。它被广泛应用于在各种国际通信的发展和全球化的字段。同时,一个重要的生产技能,英语写作,一直扮演着非常重要的作用通讯(王毅,等,2006)。能真正反映学生的英文水平在一个成熟的方法,培养学生的语言使用能力,这是非常关键的。刘润清(1999)指出,写作是四项基本语言技能(口语,阅读,写作和听力)之间的唯一技能,才能真正显示一个语言学习者的语言能力。在教学模式方面,写作是密切相关的读数(林晓雨,1996)。从通信的角度来看,写作是分不开的说(袁轰廛翟丽,2001年,马光辉,2004年)。因此,写作有助于促进综合语言技能的发展(汪出名,等人,2000;桂诗春,2004年)。至于作为医科学生关注,装备精良的英语写作能力也是一个非常重要的元素为他们未来的职业发展。最近,经济和技术的全球化带来了巨大的变化和挑战医学教育。为了培养临床医学的交际能力在国际文化交流,学习攻方在特殊领域的学术成果,并介绍他们的研究成果的其他研究人员,改善医疗学生的英语写作能力变得极为迫在眉睫。It is self-evident that English, as one of the international languages and importantcommunicative means, becomes increasingly important these days. It is widely usedin a variety of fields with the development of the international communication andglobalization. Meanwhile, English writing, an important productive skill, has beenplaying a very important role in communication (Wang Yi, et al., 2006). It can trulyreflect the English level of the students in a well-rounded way, which is very crucialfor cultivating the students’ ability in using language. Liu Runqing (1999) pointed outthat writing is the only skill among the four basic language skills (speaking, reading,writing and listening) that can really show a language learner’s language competence.In respect of teaching model, writing is closely related to reading (Lin Xiaoyu, 1996).From the perspective of communication, writing is inseparable from speaking (YuanHongchan & Zhai Li, 2001; Ma Guanghui, 2004). Therefore, writing contributes topromoting the development of comprehensive language skills (Wang Chuming, et al.,2000; Gui Shichun, 2004).As far as medical students are concerned, being well-equipped with the Englishwriting competence is also a very essential element for their future professionaldevelopment. Recently, economic and technical globalization has brought about greatchanges and challenges to medical Education. In order to cultivate the medicalstudents’ communicative ability in the international cultural exchanges to learn aboutthe academic achievements in the special domain and introduce their researchfindings to the other researchers, the improvement of the medical students’ Englishwriting skills is becoming extremely imminent.


1.1.1 College English Curriculum Requirements
With a view to further deepening the teaching reform and improving the teachingquality of College English, the Ministry of Education issued College EnglishCurriculum Requirements (CECR hereafter) in 2007 to provide some specificguidelines for the teaching of English to non-English majors in colleges anduniversities.According to CECR, College English instruction aims to cultivate the students’comprehensive ability in language use, with which they can communicate effectivelyin the future social and international cultural exchanges.In the CECR, three levels of requirements (basic requirements, intermediaterequirements, and advanced requirements) are set for listening, speaking, reading,translation and writing respectively. As for the requirements of writing,they are asfollows:
