2.2 Beauvior's Existentialist Feminism

Beauvoir is the founder of the famous French feminist movement,existentialistphilosopher,critic and writer.Her thoughts on woman's situation are mainly reflected in herwork The Second Sex.Some scholars commented that The Second Sex was'the most sound,sensible and wise book ever discussed about women'(Yan,2013:16)and it was the'Women'sBible'in the West.It applied philosophy of Existentialism to the analysis and research ofwoman's situation,and systematically expounded her existential feminist ideas.At the sametime,she pondered and demonstrated the ways for women to transcend and realize their lifevalues.

2.2.1 Woman's Situation：Immanence and The Other

As a feminist,Beauvoir demonstrated all aspects of woman's situation.She pointed outthat situation was a necessary condition for the existence of the human subject.And the  source of the persecution of women lied in their situation.Therefore,in order to change thefate of women,it was necessary to form a clear understanding of woman's situation and usedit as a breakthrough to find a way out for the survival of the female group.Beauvoir tracedwoman's situation from three aspects:biological,psychoanalytic and socio-historical level.
