1.0 Introduction
Since 1998, e-commerce has been greatly developed in the world. As the inevitable of the technological development of network times, e-commerce has already begun to have a powerful impact on the traditional economic trade method. Worldwide government departments, public services institutions, telecommunications companies, banks and other financial services institutions, many ISPs and all types of businesses and millions of individual users have been widely involved in e-commerce. The rise of e-commerce has posed a severe challenge on the operation modes of traditional enterprises’, foreign trade and national economic security and other major issues, but it also brings unprecedented opportunities for development. Judging from the trading volume of e-commerce, the total U.S. e-commerce transactions were amounted to only $ 20 billion in 1998, e-commerce only accounted for 1%~2% of. GDP. As the world's pioneer and pathfinder of e-commerce operation, eBay occupies an important position in e-commerce market in the world. The data shows that in 2007, eBay’s turnover was 59.35 billion dollars, in 2010, it was 59.7 billion dollars and it took a dominant position in the world's electronic business (as shown in Figure I). As a Chinese enterprise which deals with e-commerce, Taobao was born in 2004, although it was set up late, it developed very rapidly. In 2007, its turnover was 6 billion dollars, in 2010, its turnover was 60 billion dollars and it became the absolute leader of e-commerce industry in Chinese market. Although eBay takes a dominant position in the world's e-commerce business, in China’s e-commerce market, it has always failed to compete with Taobao.
