e report of translation practice should be completed by October, 2021. The author then decided to translate two chapters per month, and proofread the previous chapters when translating the next. The author also planned to wrote this translation report in April and May in 2021. After all these would have been done, the author planned to submit the first draft to the mentor. In fact, the translation task and the writing of the report have been finished on schedule (see Table 2-1). 

2.2 Related Studies

The analysis of the source text guides the translation process in that it provides the basis for decisions about which translation strategy will lead to a target text meeting the requirements of the translation brief (Nord, 2001: 62-64). This part reviews the previous studies from three perspectives, which together form the stylistic features of 2020 Cloud Computing Development White Paper, analyzes their results, and points out the research gap for this project to work on.

2.2.1 Studies on White Paper Translation

By 1 November 2020, there had been 17 domestic papers on white paper translation study, which can be divided into two categories. 

The first is corpus-based comparison studies. Tang Yijun (2012) introduces an effective translation method based on word collocation, which can help Chinese-English translators avoid unnecessary verb object collocation, so as to write fluent and natural English. Yu Hong (2016) compares the English translation of 2010 China's National Defense and 2010 National Security Strategy of the United States. Yu concludes that the “simplicity” trend of the translation of official documents includes many aspects, including complexity, simplification, the features of the sources text, and the option of the translators. 

The second contains the analysis studies based on language and culture. Chen Mingyao and Qiu Hui (2009) compares the Chinese discourse with English discourse, reveals how the cohesion and coherence of Chinese texts are worked and reproduced in their translated English texts. Qu Wensheng (2013) comments on the English translation of 2012 China's Judicial Reform from the perspective of publicity-oriented translation and China's legal terminology translation. Qu implies that the translation of China's political terms must properly convey the original meaning and reflect China's stance and confidence in its political stance, system, and innovation. For the translation of legal terms, Qu believes that explanatory strategy may not be the best choice and pseudo-equivalence is unacceptable.
