In 2006, a Chinese scholar Hu Gengshen proposed the Eco-translatology at aninternational symposium---Translating Global Culture: Towards InterdisciplinaryTheoretical Construction. At the meeting, he explained the basis, content anddirection of Eco-translatology studies. Subsequently, he published his seminal article--“Interpretation of Eco-translatology” ---in China Translation in 2008, in which hepointed out the basic connotation of Eco-translatology, including the English name ofEco-translatology. Since then, the study of Eco-translatology has been flourishing.Eco-translatology, as a new translation theory, combines ecology and translation onthe basis of the previous translation theories with the concept of Eastern Philosophy.Drawing on the ecological wisdom of the East and inspired by Darwin’s “naturalselection, survival of the fittest,” Prof. Hu created the theory, which was in line withthe characteristics of the times and the requirements of social development andprogress. Focusing on the “ecology” and “ecological environment,” Eco-translatologytries best to adopt a new interdisciplinary approach in translation study, focusing onthe integrity of translation, interpreting the translation process from the perspective oftranslation ecological environment, expounding the relationship between translatorsand translation ecological environment, with emphasis on the analysis on thetranslator’s ecological situation and the development of his translation ability. SinceProfessor Hu put forward this new term, he has devoted himself to the research,process and development of Eco-translatology. Since 2001, Professor Hu haspublished more than 50papers and two books on Eco-translatology. Encouraged by Professor Hu Gengshen’s research and innovation, translators at home and abroadhave gradually begun to pay attention to and engaged in the research on the dynamicsof Eco-translatology. At the same time, the two sessions ( “international symposiumon Eco-translatology” and “international symposium on ecological linguistics” ) havealso promoted the dissemination and development of state translation. Since 2012,research on Eco-translatology has continued unabated, reaching a peak of over250papers in 2014, and the number of paper in the past three years has declinedslightly, but still exceeded 200. Overall, the number of research results is on the rise.

2.2 Studies on the Eco-translatology on Translated Texts

In recent years, there has been an increasing amount of literature describing therole of Eco-translatology on translated texts. Studies have shown the importance ofuse of the theory on translating literature texts, filmography texts and catchword texts.
