Thirdly, this translation project helps to promote the international exchange of academic translation activities in professional fields. The material for this translation report is taken from the Chapter 24 'Translation technology research with eye tracking' of The Routledge Handbook of Translation and Technology, and the selected topic belongs to academic papers on translation technology, and the author believes that translating this text will broaden the understanding of readers in related fields and at the same time increase readers' attention to the translation of academic papers. Through the translation of the latest foreign academic paper on eye-movement of translation technology, this translation project introduces readers to the application of eye-tracking technology in translation science, which helps China understand the foreign research results related to eye-movement of translation technology, enriches the development of domestic translation disciplines, guides the current development and research direction of translation technology in China, and promotes the international exchange of academic translation activities in professional fields.

Chapter 2 Description of Translation Process

2.1 Pre-translation Preparations

Pre-translation preparation plays a critical role in the implementation of the later translation activities. The more adequate the pre-translation preparation is, the more the successful completion of the translation task can be guaranteed. The preparation work for this translation activity mainly includes: analyzing the text characteristics of the academic paper, in order to grasp the linguistic characteristics of the text; selecting appropriate translation theories to provide theoretical guidance for the translation of the whole text; preparing translation aids to promote the smooth development of the translation, and making a translation plan to get an on-time report completion. 

2.1.1 Analysis of Text Features

Before the translation, the author needs to analyze the source text and its textual features to grasp the tone of the translated text as a whole.

The source text comes from The Routledge Handbook of Translation and Technology, which was published by Routledge Press in 2020 and currently has no Chinese reference translation. Divided into five parts, this collection of scholarly papers provides a comprehensive overview of the dynamically evolving relationship between translation and technology, featuring the perspectives of users of translation technology as well as those of researchers concerned with the increasing interdependence between translation and technology, and the book is of high reference value to translators, computational linguists, and developers of translation tools (Duchowski, 2003). Since the research direction of the author's supervisor is the translation cognitive process, she is one of the early researchers in China who focuses on the eye movement of the translation process and can provide professional guidance and help for the author's translation.
