The reporting verbs in this academic paper imply the writer's position, opinions, and attitudes. Firstly, the author takes into account the specific contexts and speculates on the pragmatic effects the author desires to achieve by using reporting verbs and hedges. Secondly, in the process of translation practice, the author classifies and analyzes the reporting verbs and hedges in the text, and summarizes the translation methods and translation techniques for different categories of reporting verbs and hedges. 

For the reporting verbs, the author mainly analyzed the translation of research act reporting verbs and cognition act reporting verbs. The author summarizes the translation method of direct translation, and mainly adopts translation techniques such as addition, division, voice conversion, omission, and structural reorganization for research act reporting verbs; and mainly adopts translation techniques such as subject change and synonymous substitution for cognition act reporting verbs. Analyzing and identifying the categories and functions of reporting verbs in this text can help to grasp the writer's attitude and viewpoint and the rigorous style of academic texts. It is necessary to accurately translate the reporting verbs in academic texts, and the study of academic translation strategies for reporting verbs can not only improve the quality of translation and enhance international academic communication but also in turn promote the standardization of Chinese academics and the dissemination of Chinese academic discourse.

For the hedges, the author mainly analyzes the translation of approximators and shields. The author summarizes the translation methods of combining literal translation with free translation. For the translation of adaptors, the techniques of reorganization and division are mainly used, while for the translation of rounders, the techniques of voice conversion, and amplification are mainly adopted. For plausibility shields, translation techniques are mainly used, such as changing words into sentences and division, while for attribution shields, translation techniques such as voice conversion, addition, and repetition are mainly used. Hedges are the main way of presenting new ideas and are the main strategy for presenting new knowledge.
