摘要:本文是一篇初中英语教学论文,本文旨在通过调查陕西省榆林市一名普通初中生的第二语言动机自我系统和外语焦虑的现状,分析第二语言动机自我系统、外语焦虑和英语学习成绩之间的相关性。

nyei(2009)pointedout that when students first learned English,they fell in love with English mainlybecause they love English teachers,loved the various activities in the classroom,orliked to read English books.A pleasant learning experience can lead students to have astrong interest in English.This will have a big impact on students’English learning.

2.2 Theoretical Foundations

This research is based on two theoretical foundations:Hierarchy of NeedsTheory and Attribution Theory of Achievement Motivation.The following content is adetailed introduction of these two theories.

2.2.1 Hierarchy of Needs Theory

The hierarchy of needs theory was a basic hierarchy of needs proposed byMaslow in 1943,which was based on Henry Murray’s analysis of human needs into20 types.Maslow divided human needs into five levels.The first level wasphysiological needs,which included the material needs of human beings in theprocess of survival and development,such as clothing,food,shelter,transportation,and so on.The needs of this hierarchy were the most basic needs of human beings;The second level was the need for security,the need to avoid threats and dangers,suchas illness,pension and various forms of savings and insurance;The third level was theneed for affection and belonging,which mainly included maintaining goodinterpersonal relationships with leaders,colleagues,friends and family,giving orreceiving more care and attention from others,belonging,and becoming a member ofa group public recognition;The fourth level was the need for status or respect,mainlyincluding the need for ability,knowledge,achievement,honor and honorary status,and the ability to gain the respect and love of others;The fifth level was the need forself-actualization,which was the highest level of need,which mainly referred to aperson who had to do the work that matches him,exerted his greatest ability,andrealized his own value and development.Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theoryemphasized that only after the needs of the lower level were satisfied,the needs of thehigher level would play a role in promoting people,that was to say,after people’sbasic material needs were satisfied,the higher level of spiritual needs would play arole in promoting.
